Hi All, Thanks to Ben's nice explanation yesterday I want to upgrade from kde 2.0.1 to the 2.2.1. I have a couple of questions though. I only have a 1.2gb hdd on this machine, with about 150megs left, will this be enough to allow me to upgrade? Secondly, I can figure out what I need in the base folder on the ftp site but what is the minimum that I will need in the developement folder? Please excuse such basic questions, but this is my first attempt at any kind of upgrade since putting 7.1 on this computer. Dallam, I would first download and install everything from the *base* directory thus: $>cd ~/downloads/kde/base/ base$>wget ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distributions/suse/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_7.1/base/* Then as root: ~$>rpm -Uvh --rmsource --test /home/user/downloads/kde/base/* This will check if the installation will work, if all is OK I use the same command without the --test: ~$>rpm -Uvh --rmsource /home/user/downloads/kde/base/* The --rmsource will remove the source files and spec files when the installation is done, saves some space... :-) Then I would delete the base directory with all the rpm's and download only the KDE packages I know that I want. Usually I put them all in the same directory and use the above --test command to check dependencies. Of course you can use YaST1 to install downloaded packages if that makes you more comfortable.
