Re: [SLE] SUSE 9.2 DVD FTP Version is out NOW
How come it's 3.5G when the DVD is 7.5G? Because the DVD has i386 and amd64, the iso is just for i386.

Thanks a lot for this email. I now understand why I did not find some files in ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/AptContents.SuSE-9.2-i386.gz (that is a collection of files provided by all the 9.2-i386 rpms available on the ftp server).... I thought that the file was not up to date, but it appearantly is very much up to date (as usual and expected). -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/AptContents.SuSE-9.2-i386.gz IS NOT uptodate. It is one week old. I had to omit today's apt maintenance runs due to the enormous task which ftp.gwdg.de has to perform currently. The hottest ever. It was planned to feed the mirrors between friday evening and monday morning "silently", but on saturday at noon GMT www.heise.de published my URL. You can see the "positive" result at http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/people/emoenke/ftp.sum.050109.1400.png To interpret it right, use http://www.heise.de/newsticker/foren/go.shtml?read=1&msg_id=7175524&forum_id=71772 or understand that the byte count register at the ethernet switch gets polled every minute, but is only 32 bit unsigned, so you have to add 560 MBit/sec where the value is far below. The "negative" result is the enormous disturbance: only few SUSE mirrors are complete. I still have more than 3000 ftp sessions currently (was 4400 before), 625 http sessions and 145 rsync sessions currently. No chance to get an aptate or aptcontents run thru currently. At 16:44 h I have started an aptate run for 9.2, and it is still struggling... Cheers -e -- Eberhard Moenkeberg
