Re: [SLE] Need terminal similar to Windoze hyperterm
Sadly, neither worked. Since I do _alot_ of console based work on routers, this is a huge disappointment for me. So much of Linux has brought me so far away from Windows only to be stopped by this. I'll spend some time on linux.org searching for linux apps before I hang up Linux for a few months waiting on an app, but my next step is to play around with VMWare and see if it will host my Windows Procomm Plus tools, which will work in a pinch. Thanks for the responses. -Jeff Jerome R. Westrick wrote:
You need a vt100 Emulation...
I don't know of one, but at least now you know what you are looking for...
Just a minute... Checking YAST!
I'd try eterm and/or minicom By the description both seam to be what you are looking for...

Greetings. I need to be able to use Com1 on my laptop with a Cisco console cable like to connect to a router's console port and do things. In Windows, I used hyperterminal - what is my equivalent in SuSe v9.0??
Thanks, Jeff

Minicom should have worked for you. Can you be more specific in what did not work. You can set up minicom to work with a direct serial line. I did this to configure my Ipaq. Make sure you run minicom with the -s
