[opensuse] updatedb?
Hello, I like to use locate. I have installed the mlocate package and there is a locate command and an updatedb command. Now, what is the correct OpenSUSE way to have updatedb run daily, if not more often? And is ist autoconfigured when I install mlocate? I could not find an updatedb service in systemctl, nor is there any trace of updatedb in /etc/cron.* -- Yours, Mikhail Ramendik Unless explicitly stated, all opinions in my mail are my own and do not reflect the views of any organization -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
Hello, Hello,

locate is now part of 'mlocate'.

It's there... Look in /etc/cron.daily/mlocate.cron -Nick -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks - somehow I thought it would be "updatedb" so could not find it. -- Yours, Mikhail Ramendik Unless explicitly stated, all opinions in my mail are my own and do not reflect the views of any organization -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Huh? Leap 42.1, package mlocate-0.26-22.2.x86_64 (see "rpm -ql mlocate" for list of files) uses "/usr/lib/cron/run-crons" (from package cronie-1.4.11-57.5.x86_64) to run via file "/etc/cron.daily/mlocate.cron" config via "/etc/sysconfig/locate" (Must set "RUN_UPDATEDB=yes" else will not run) and "/etc/updatedb.conf", see "man 5 updatedb.conf" (for Filesystems, Folder names, and Pathes to exclude) - Yamaban. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The file is /etc/cron.daily/mlocate.cron and the config file is: /etc/sysconfig/locate Charles -- "Whip me. Beat me. Make me maintain AIX." (By Stephan Zielinski)
