When you log in, the session manager should have a pull down menu where you can select your window manager. 2. If you are currently using KDe, click on the start menu "switch user". When the session manager comes up, select menu, session type, Gnome. Ctrl-alt-F7 gets you back to your KDE session, ctrl-alt-F8 gets you to your Gnome session 3. You can use startx from a virtual terminal also. -- Jerry FeldmanBoston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9

Simply click on the menu pull down on the login screen and select a different session. Of course you have to have gnome installed. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please* "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

But the different session - in this case Gnome - was not visible, until I got an info to where the same case has been discussed. It was to make a symbloic link, whereafter it works. And yes!, of course gnome have to be installed, but I have written that it was in another thread. Erik
Hello,
You can either use "startx gnome" if you are not in init 5 mode.
or replace /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager
defaultf_WM="kde" to "gnome" may be "gnome2"
