[opensuse] What version of KDE for openSUSE 11.1?
According to the openSUSE 11.0 Roadmap [1] Sept. 5th was the day when "we settle for a KDE brach to go for". Do we know what branches they are going with? How will the new proposed KDE 4.2 / 4.3 release date changes affect this? Will KDE 3.5.10 still be shipped? With the changed schedule of KDE 4.2, I don't think it'll be fully prime, thus pushing me to wait for KDE 4.3 to even think about switching with my production machine (the plasma and pim groups are against the change, because they don't believe they'll get everything they need into the shortened releases) (2 weeks for KDE 4.2 and 2 weeks for KDE 4.3). I can't wait until I consider KDE 4 stable for a production work machine, since I am looking forward to using it, but the current state isn't usable (the missing PIM features, the erratic behavior of plasma, the status of kaffiene, amarok, and many other applications I depend on.. yes, I depend on amarok at work). So back to my original question.. does anyone know which KDE branches were decided on the 5th? LOL! I have it running all the time, and like to impress the windows weenies I work with who think that Windows Media Player is the best. They all seem to ask about how I get covers on the program. http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/20080910_amarok_covers.jpg -- kai www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

And, it does a better job than iTunes (on the iMac at least) which will only download covers from the iTunes store - and that only after you register. Even worse, if there is confusion in the album to use, there is no nice immediate choice to let you select which to use. I want native Amarok for my iMac! I have xport installed, but that only covers installing some simple graphic apps. I at least get Monkey Bubbles on my iMac. Times are changing. Just think: us Linux users are complaining that our Linux apps are not on other platforms. Not so very long ago, the table was set the other way! I've been complainig for some time - AmaroK, KWeather, SuperTux, K3B, KDVDAuthor... ...those are all reason enough to stick with Linux! -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
