[SLE] setting up fast_cgi
Hi, I just installed FastCGI-2.4.0-12 and add manually my mod_fastcgi.conf then restart apache. I got this error # /etc/init.d/apache2 restart Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/conf.d/mod_fastcgi.conf: Invalid command 'FastCgiIpcDir', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Right, as if the module hasn't been installed yet. Here's the configuration file: ==== FastCgiIpcDir /tmp FastCgiExternalServer /srv/www/htdocs/zope \ -socket zope.soc \ -pass-header Authorization ==== Did i miss something during installation? I know there's apache2-mod_fcgid package, but it's not fast_cgi, as the description said, "Alternative FastCGI module for Apache2". I need fast_cgi because i want to integrate zope to apache and there's no manual doing that with apache2-mod_fcgid. I'm using 10.1 on i686. Please help. Regards, Adinda Praditya
not that I have ever tried it but it sounds like a pointing error to me. Regards Per Qvindesland Adinda Praditya wrote:

Right, as if the module hasn't been installed yet.
Yep, sure sounds like it. Is it loaded? Does your fastcgi.conf include <ifmodule> statements? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Nope. I just followed from the zope docs. Adinda P -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Then I doubt if your fastcgi module is loaded. Did you add a LoadModule statement somewhere? What does your /server-info say? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

The list of files from FastCGI package can be seen at http://pastebin.com/710195 There's no module, configuration example. So i got blank what to write the mod_fastcgi.conf. Only what zope docs told me to do so. Do you have an example configuration for apache (so i can add what is necessary)? I don't know what to add in /etc/sysconfig/apache2 (APACHE_MODULES) as there's no module from the package file list. Is there any short step-by-step how to set fastcgi on apache? How come these problems (there's no module, example configuration, etc.) occur? I thought rpm installation is made for ease. Thanks, Adinda P

Yeah, that looks like the output from "rpm -qfl <package>".

No, I've never used fastcgi.

Installation yes, but not necessarily configuration. Configuration will usually vary some from system to system. If I were you, I'd go through the various fastcgi documentation that is included in the package. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
