[opensuse] sound on Lenovo 3000 N200
From reviewing the web it appears that for some reason the system gets confused and somehow links the sound card to the hard drive - besides
From the web it appears that this can be solved by adding the line:
Folks I've got a Lenovo laptop with what appears to be a Realtek sound card, possibly an ALC861VD, but no sound. the basic question of WHY? I need to figure out what to do to stop it because its causing a problem -- no sound. For example when I do a "aplay -l" I get: **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC861VD Analog [ALC861VD Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 6: Si3054 Modem [Si3054 Modem] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo to the end of the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base however i have no such file on my 10.3 system. Now I do have a file called "sound" in that directory that contains the following: options snd-hda-intel enable=1 index=0 # u1Nb.cOzUFd_gaWF:82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel do I just add that line to the end of the sound file? When I do I get truly lousy sound and "aplay -l" **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC861VD Analog [ALC861VD Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 6: Si3054 Modem [Si3054 Modem] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 I get the same results when I comment out the first options line and the sound file looks like: #options snd-hda-intel enable=1 index=0 # u1Nb.cOzUFd_gaWF:82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo Thanks in advance for any help! Let try something simple first. Is the soundcard muted (ALSA defaults to it being muted after initial setup)? Check that first with your mixer of choice. Charles

You have disabled card by commenting out line with option 'enable=1' try this: # u1Nb.cOzUFd_gaWF:82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo enable=1 index=0 -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
