Can someone tell me how to turn off whatever is using port 21 on my SuSE linux box? I am trying to run my own FTP server software and it tells me 'port 21 is in use' Thanks, --------------------------- Eric Carbone

Are you running inetd, while trying to run a standalone ftp server? Check /etc/inetd.conf for ftp entries that would collide with the server. //Anders

You can use the command netstat -lpn to see what programs are listening on what ports. The port number is the number after the colon in the "Local Address" column. __________________________________________________________________________ Robert Paulsen robert@paulsenonline.net old -> paulsen@texas.net
