I have SuSE 8.1 installed from ftp (just got the box with the CDs, but I didn't bother reinstalling). I want to test the ACL system. So, I formatted a partition with ext3, "touch"ed a file and tried this: silviu:/mnt # setfacl --modify=g:acltestgroup:rw- acltestfile setfacl: acltestfile: Operation not supported What am I doing wrong? -- Linux/Unix Systems Engineer http://www.genesys.ro Phone +40723-267961

Maybe you haven't googled enough
That for sure, I was just hoping to get this one the easy way. I have "man"ed acl and setfacl, though, but I see it's not enough :-( -- Linux/Unix Systems Engineer http://www.genesys.ro Phone +40723-267961

The first hit on google for "setfacl ext3 suse" points to an sdb article. Did you use mount option "acl" on your ext3 partition?
