Xorg update dependencies failure - rpm missing
I use SuSE 9.1 XFree86 4.4.0-rc2 and want to upgrade to xorg-6.8.1. I go to ftp.suse.com/pub/i386/supplementary/X/Xorg and downlaod the files for xorg-6.8.1 and when I go to install them, it says that I need perl 5.8.5. I have had NO luck finding a perl-5.8.5 rpm. Does anyone know where a SuSE 9.1 perl-5.8.5 rpm is? Thanks in advance

perl 5.8.5 is part of suse 9.2. you can probably snag the src.rpm for it from a mirror and install that. don't know what affect it may have on other things tho. a bump of 5.8.3 -> 5.8.5 should be pretty safe, but you never know.. -- trey

Hi, Can't say about 9.1 for certain, but the 9.2 Pro install DVD has it. I'd bet that it is avail at the SUSE FTP site. PeterB

Ok, perl-5.8.5 is indeed on 9.2, but not on 9.1, and that's what counts for Steven. Or he would be willing to rebuild the 9.2 perl on 9.1. ;) I guess it would take about an hour or so, give or take 50% (based on an AMD 2500+ = 1.8 GHz). To me the perl-5.8.5 requirement seems more like a packaging mistake, as there is nowhere a 9.1 perl-5.8.5 to be found. Cheers, Leen
