There is a bios update for the matrox g450 card at the matrox web site. I would give that a shot too, although I don't know if that will solve your problem. Also, there are new X drivers, both can be found at:

If it is of any help, here is my XF86Config.
If there's a BIOS update for the G450, maybe there will be one for the G400 too. I'll take a look. Thank you for your config file. Best regards, David List
I'm able to switch between, and to log in to virtual consoles as diferent users but I can't find information about running a new xserver and window manager in the second virtual console. I'd like to be able tlo log my daughter into her account and let her run her own kde desktop without logging out of mine. How can I do this? tia dave

What your asking sounds confusing. You want for both you and your daughter to use the same CRT and keyboard and simultaneously operate the same computer but in different virtual terminals, or is your daughter going to log in remotely? JLK
Control-Alt-F(some tty: 1, 2, etc) let her login
use "WINDOWMANAGER=gnome start -- :6
Her gnome should run on tty6

Well often I start a large download and then don't need to be occupying the desk space, rather than have my daughter be forced to use my desktop & settings I can leave my dial-up connection running, switch virtual terminals and then she can play, work or surf as she wants in her own login space. All part of getting my daughter (10 yrs old) to see the possibilities beyond microsoft. As a matter of fact she is now trying to convince my wife to use linux instead of winders ;-) dh

Young people often pick up on the advatages quickly, and your daughter is another example.

Control-Alt-F(some tty: 1, 2, etc) let her login
use "WINDOWMANAGER=gnome start -- :6
my mistake, of course I meant her gnome 8-)
Her gnome should run on tty6

Edit the file /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers. You'll find a line :0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 vt07 You can just add one like :1 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X :1 vt08 and theoretically it should work. I just tried it, and it worked up to a point, but after a short time my system crashed completely. I can't wait for an update to XFree

Thanks, Anders. Your piece of advice was just what I wanted and it seems to work fine with Suse 7.2 distro. --Jyry C:-( C:-/ C========8-O C8-/ C:-( Chiquita: Tuemme "Puhdas elämä (suomalaiselle) lapselle" sekä "Paha elämä banaaninpoimijalle" kampanjoita
