The version of Thunderbird in the oS repositories is 3.1.14, but Lightning doesn't work with this version. Apparently Tbird is up to versions 6 or 7. What do people here use? What version of oS are you using? I've got 11.3 and have downloaded T-bird from the 11.3 repository and Lightning from Mozilla. I barely know what I"m doing, so take this for what it's worth. Maybe you need to refresh your repositories. T-bird: 6.0.2 Lightning: 1.0b5 HTH, Mark Z. Long time lurker; first time delurking ;0) I'm using 11.4 x86-64. It's strange that your 11.3 repos offer you T-bird 6.0.2, whereas my 11.4 only offers 3.1.14. Which repo did you get your 6.0.2 from? Do you know how to find that out? It's quite easy in YaST, under the version tab.

Thanks,

T-bird 6.0.2 came from vendor obs://build.opensuse.org/mozilla, and I'm using 11.3 x86-32. The repository for ll.3 is: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.3/ I assume for 11.4 one just has to change the last digit. I'm using 11.4 x86-64. It's strange that your 11.3 repos offer you T-bird 6.0.2, whereas my 11.4 only offers 3.1.14. Which repo did you get your 6.0.2 from? Do you know how to find that out? It's quite easy in YaST, under the version tab.
Not strange at all. *Normally* there are only updates to a distrobution, 11.4 in your case, when there is a security problem found/corrected or significant usability corrections. Nearly every app in the regular 11.4 repos has a higher version available in home: or factory repos. All you need to do is search at: http://software.opensuse.org/search It *has* been this way for many years :^).... -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi, Our updates are not really limited to security and critical bugs anymore. If you think something should have bugs fixed or an update would be useful to lots of people, we can do updates for the old distros. in the bugreport NEEDINFO maintenance@opensuse.org e.g. for Firefox and Thunderbird we do version updates. If the Mozilla Maintainer (Wolfgang) decides 6.0.x is the way to go for Thunderbird he knows how to get it released for old distros too. Yes, I've woken up and added the Mozilla Build Service repo, from which I've just installed version 6.0.2. However, when I open Thunderbird, it still reports itself as being version 3.1.14. Maybe I have to uninstall the old version first.

Well, I had to logout and login again. It seems that Thunderbird remains in memory after it has apparently been closed. Thanks to you all for your help and advice. I just access Google Calendar via the web site.
Google has a calendar plugin for Thunderbird that works quite well. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have that, but still find the web version works well. Also, I'm more likely to use Seamonkey and not Thunderbird. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
