suse installation and YaST executing problem
When initializing YaST during startup, it said" Your computer doesn't fulfill all requirements to allow a graphical installation.Either you have less than 64MB memory or the X server could not be started. As a fallback of the text frontend of YaST2 will guideyou through the installation. This frontend will offer the same functionality as the graphical one, but hthe screens will look different than in the manual. " Then after some texts scrolling over, I am prompted to logon to KDE3, it started successully with a resolution of 1600*1200, 16bit, and a little bit flickering, I am not sure about the exact refresh rate. then I started yast to reconfigure the display card, it probed out my ATI XPert Rage128 Pro card, but it seems he does not recognize 32MB memory. I cannot even get it test ok under 1024*768,85Hz,24bit. Is this a problem of video card configuration? how to deal with it? thanks... Cheers Liu

Probably... you have to run sax2 with root permissions (either login as root, or go in a console and type "kdesu sax2", and enter your root password). That should let you configure your video card. Doug
yes,I DID have run SaX2, and I altered the configuration to 1024*768, 16bits. It tested OK, but when i quitted SaX2, and startx, it went back to the previous configuration, faint. Cheers Liu

I think that this is just about one of the very few, if only time, that you need to restart the system (a commplete shutdown and restart). As far as I've been able to tell, only when messing with the video stuff this is necessary. So give it a try...it sure won't hurt anything, but I'll bet once you restart your system it'll be the way you want it. John -- Computers and air-conditioners are the same... Open up windows and they're useless.
