Is there a way to recover from a failure of depmod -a to create a modules.dep file creation. Booting of the system results in failure of most modules beyond what is required for boot. No ethernet card, iptables/chains, ppp, sound, etc. System is SuSE 7.3 Professional ---------------------------------- Pastor Larry Koester St. John's Lutheran Church 15121 145th Street Bloomer, WI 54724

You mean if you run "depmod -a" as root, it dosn't work? You normally run "depmod -a" then reboot. That's always worked for me. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
