Here's the link to the leaked M$ papers taken from the NOC servers. http://remus.softimage.net/index.html Most of these documents are at least a couple or years old. They include details about the method used to gain access to the site. Other articles include some emails from billg, a lot from Ballmer, and serveral others such as development and marketing teams. I personally found the MSNBC section of "Microsoft Projects Details" of interest. Proving, at least, to myself that M$ is in the business of controlling the media on a fairly large scale and using the once reputable NBC news agency as a quasi-advertising and marketing agent (pity but not surprising). It gives some insite into M$' goals concerning MSNBC: "MSNBC.com is the Microsoft-NBC joint venture whose charter is to lead the web with coverage of breaking news in general news, sports, business, and other categories, such as health, entertainment, local, weather, and so on. Over the past year, it has consistently beaten CNN.com in market share and recently has eclipsed CNN Networks as a whole, too. MSNBC has been consistently growing at about 100% per year. Generally, the strategy of MSNBC is to leverage its access to air-time, promotions, and tie-ins to MSNBC Cable, NBC News, and NBC Sports to draw users from other media into MSNBC and thence to MSN. Along the way, MSNBC seeks to monetize this traffic and has been very success[ful] at developing and deploying new advertising and revenue-generating features on the web site" Also I found the section on the same page about WebTV interesting as well: According to the author: "WebTV appears to be doubling every year, with as many as 12K new subscribers per day. WebTV user demographics fit US demographics very well suggesting a strong penetration into non-PC households. WebTV's number one support call issue is billing." Hmmm, didn't WebTV flop and fold? As well relating to WebTV under the subsection "Architecture" they describe the need for an "Electronic Program Guide Service" with "Sun E450's with lots of disks in parenthesis. And then we get some insights to the vaunted Passport - which talks about cookies and their types of authentications using SSL, encrypted using Passport key, and encrypted using keys via Nexus data. I do believe that Passport has been preported to be highly insecure, so one has to wonder about the mentioning of SSL and encryption.... hmmm! Other interesting reads include "Hotmail: Unix to Windows", "Project Alladin" and a few others. One might wonder,... Is their more? Were more than just these documents available and downloaded? I could be very very wrong in the assumption that perhaps, just perhaps there maybe more that is presented. It would behove some people not to expose certain communque's because it would A) promote those that have gained access to any other documents to avoid any possible negative actions form the Beast, and/or B) by holding back certain key documents attained it would throw M$ of balance as to just what was exposed and taken and make it possible for M$ competitors to use any knowledge from sources found on the M$ site to be used strategically in dealing with the Beast. I'd be curious to know if there's anymore. Anyway, take a look. And let us know if you come across any other documents not revealed at this site.
