whats a good pen to use on a cdr after i get ready to write the contents on it?i know just a regular marker will eat the cd away after a very long time because of the acids in the ink...is an alcohol based marker any good to use? the one that came with my burner is almost empty..
I have stopped using stickers because of their width, and because I don't knoe what the glue will do long-term. Since then I use pretty-normal permanent markers, which use alcohol as solvent (which is why alcohol will do away with their permanence pretty jolly quickly). The ones I have used so far are Lumocolor from Staedtler. The black ones are light resistant. I really don't think the ink does any damage to the hard plastic of the CD long term. Hey it's more likely the next-generation CD-drive won't read the old disks any more... What is sold as "special CD pen" for exorbitant prices looks pretty darn the same as a permanent marker to me. Don't bother about getting a "xylo..."-free one, that chemical is just another solvent which evaporates during drying. It's toxic which is why manufacturers advertise when it's not in.
