Hello all,
I just booted SuSE 9.0 on my notebook for the first time and noticed that the wireless driver being used is prism2_cs?
I would like to use HostAP (http://hostap.epitest.fi/) as my wireless driver. Is there a HostAP RPM for SuSE 9.0? I looked on rpmfind.net and only see RPM's for Mandrake. Browsing Google Groups I see some references to a Red Hat RPM.
If there is no HostAP RPM for SuSE 9.0, does anyone know what the process is to "remove" the old wireless driver and replace it with HostAP?
rpm -ql k_deflt|grep hostap /lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/hostap.o /lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/hostap_crypt.o /lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/hostap_crypt_wep.o /lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/hostap_pci.o /lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/hostap_plx.o /lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/pcmcia/hostap_cs.o
Look under /etc/pcmcia to see how to switch. It's a bit more difficult than with a PCI card...
I'm not a Linux guru, so I don't understand the significance of the output from "rpm -ql k_deflt|grep hostap" .. does that mean that there is a hostap RPM for SuSE 9.0 somewhere? Thanks for your help, Mark

'rpm -ql' lists the files in an rpm. That means that the hostap drivers were integrated into the SUSE kernel and they're on your box already. There's also an rpm of userspace stuff called hostap that should also already be on your system. If it's not there then you can do a 'yast -i hostap' to get it. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/4M1I+FOexA3koIgRAtq6AJsHah0BwrVrLk9aeNnm+9w/N5xbbgCbBYo5 TWfyey6SzlvYEzF+N/33IJw= =xSrA -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
