Well, I didnt receive any responses to my sound card question, which leads me to believe that I have probably snafu'd something that will require a fresh install of SuSE 6.4. But before I go and screw up that install by doing the same silly things, I would like to know if it is safe to use Redhat RPMs on a SuSE 6.4 system?? The situation is that I wanted to install gkrellm (latest) but that required GTK+ and Glib 1.2.8 or later. Not being able to find a SuSE RPM for these (anyone got a good place to find this kind of thing for the latest SuSE, let me KNOW!) on rpmfind.net., I downloaded a *generic* RPM created by Redhat for i386 Linux. Is this where I screwed up? I have been using SuSE since 6.1, by which I mean I have purchased each version. Is it just me, or is SuSE a little slow coming out with the latest RPMs? And yet another question (yaq). I have never tried nor have I done any research (yet), how hard is to create RPMs? Can anyone give me a brief (very) on whats involved? I'm thinking maybe thats the route to go, create your own. Thanks!
