It's only a cosmetical thing: YOU claims it's going to install the k_athlon kernel, but it will honor your architecture. If you let YOU proceed and then do a "rpm -qa | grep ^k_" you will see that the correct kernel got installed. Even within YOU, on the right hand side of the window you will see which kernel package will get updated. It's a problem with the patch info file on the YOU server. This file will be replaced by a corrected one soon. Anyway: no need to worry. Greetings from Bremen hartmut

Yesterday, when I upgraded to the kernel 2.4.21-166 'optimized for athlon', it looked naturally to see this messages, because this was just an athlon based PC. Today, when I upgraded the kernel on a pure Intel server, N440BX-PII, I also became a little surprised to se the same messages 'optimized for athlon'. Well, a check with 'uname -r' after this installation, I saw that the kernel was 'moderated' to 2.4.21-166-default :-) Terje J. Hanssen

I had the same thing today. But mine is a dual Athlon. After letting it run it's course, I found it had indeed installed the smp version of the kernel. It didn't go well here. 'Blew away my system the other day - WRONG kernel, mods gone, and NO nVidia video. I had to do a fresh install. Fred -- "...Linux, MS-DOS, and Windows XP (also known as the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)."

I noticed that on my PIII laptop. It installed and booted fine, however I rebuilt the kernel optimized for PIII, Coppermine.
