Don't have S5500 around, sorry cannot help with that one.

If it recognized as UVC camera, try check with luvcview first.

I don't think I've got anything else running which would be using v4l2 :( or is the problem with the frame format?

Strangely, luvcview works when I log into KDE3 on the same machine. Ekiga and GQCam don't. I have a Logitech Quick Chat cam which is working with kopete and motion, but is it not working with luvcview, gqcam, skype. Strange, I know :)

for luvcview I have the same error.
