Hey, Can anyone suggest a program that will rip the audio from a video (divx/xvid/mpg) file? Wanting to get some sound clips off of a video but can't figure out how to get just the audio. Or if mencoder is able to do this, could someone show an example command line for it? I've got it installed, but the documentation/info is incredibly heavy on technical details but severely lacking on practical examples. Thanks, Joe

Thanks, Joe Audacity should work... I use it to record from RealPlayer quite a bit. -- ...CH SuSE Is All U Need Linux user# 313696 Linux box# 199365

transcode
Took some extra searching, since transcode's documentation focuses on video-to-video and little on audio extraction, but finally found a solution... transcode -i test.avi -x null -y null, wav -o output.wav Works fine. (For the other responder, thanks but I tried audacity and the extracted audio came out as a very nasty sound. I do use it regularly for audio editing though.) Joe
