The sound seems to be absent in KDE-3.3.2. If I use MPlayer, Xine or Realplayer I have sound. There is absolutely no background sound for such as kopete, korganizer or at bootup. Zip, zero, nada. Anyone else...? -- ..."Yogi" CH Namasté Yoga Studio

Yogi, Discussed several times already! Check the mail list archives for details or recompile the arts src.rpm to fix. ;o) Lee -- --- KMail v1.7.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game!"

One helluvalot easier said, then done. The source RPM refuses to install. I saw a progress bar, and the whole deal. No arts in /usr/src. No errors. ...Not to mention what I already mentioned. <LOL> -- ..."Yogi" CH Namasté Yoga Studio

Did you look in /usr/src/packages/SPECS or SOURCE? That's where the
files are placed and then you just run the rpmbuild command. Of
course, you didn't have to install it at all, but just run the rpmbuild
on the src.rpm.
rpmbuild --rebuild

I've been following this thread with interest because I'm experiencing the same system sounds problem under 9.2. In fact, (thanks Lee!) rpmbuild is crunching away as I write this. I'll let you know if and how it works here (pretty soon by the looks of it.) regards, - Carl

Since I was having problems, I decided to back up what I had and try 9.2 once more. Now, sound seems to work like a champ but the korganizer doesn't sound any alarms even though it is totally enabled --alarms & load at boot. So... I am partially solved & need to start a new thread. Thanks for the push to installing 9.2, Lee. :-) ...I think, anyhow. ...Yogi
