I understand my 8.2 parcel is on it's way here to the near tropics, but what w/ customs, Canadian Snow birds trying to fly the other direction and general Cruise Ship Mania getting even nuttier than usual,It probably will only arrive late Friday or early Saturday. So, I was going to upgrade Hubbies box to 8.1 ( he's happy w/ 8.0 BUT, SOme of the items in 8.1 begin to look rather appealing.. to him BUT... since 8.2 is on it's way ( for me <G>) I was wondering, occasioned by all the thumbs up in the air, and golden honeyed tones describing the 8.2 experience... on an update/upgrade path from 8.0 - 8.2 are there any speed bumps ? As in the moving of files and directories to formerly non ( SuSE ) standard directories ... I'll likely to a clean install , just on general principals on my box.. and probably on the test box .. But his life is on his box. He's a consultant and magazine columnistSo the stuff he writes are his work as well as his life even w/ all the knowledge in the world, it seems impossible to backup everything, and as Murphy so often points out... what you don't have backed up, is JUST what you will need on a new build , install , update etc. Not to mention that writers as a rule seem to be a tad anal on general principles I'd like to shrink his windows partition ( thee only one left in this office <G> ) because he's been pretty happy w/ Crossover and it's solved most of his documents problems.. Any info from you lucky guys who are already enjoying the new release... PS. NEVER EVER go down town on Cruise Ship Day ... and if possible try not to need to be in or near the airports as well .... <VBG> -- j Afterthought : Gravity doesn`t exist: the earth sucks.

Hi, I'd rather do a clean install either. Then create a separate /home partition which you don't touch in future updates. You can run future updates as clean install as well then and need not back up anything, since the /home directories won't get touched. Cheers ....
