I'm trying to change a folder, and it's subfolders and files, from Owner:root, Group:users to Owner:tom, Group:users. I'm trying this by going into Konq and right-clicking on the folder and changing permissions. I do this under Super-User File Manager. I make the changes and check the box "apply to all subfolders and it's files", but nothing happens. Seems the only way to do this is file by file. How do I accomplish this with a command line? I think that might work better. -- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com

As root do this... chown tom.users <directory> -R This will recursively change all files and the directory to your ownership. :) -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--
I beleive "chown -R tom:users /dirname" will work. On Tue, 2002-06-25 at 13:14, Tom Nielsen wrote:

chown -R Group:users top_level_directory for example: chown -R Group:users /home/guest Charles -- "The IETF motto is 'rough consensus and running code'" -- Scott Bradner (Open Sources, 1999 O'Reilly and Associates)
