RE: [SLE] Computer won't fully shutdown
You don't mention which version of Suse you're running. If it's v9.0 then insert in the file /boot/grub/menu.lst
You also don't mention what kind of mobo you are running. Are you by any chance running a Soyo board? Or at least a board with a VIA chipset? Because I have had many APM problems with Soyo boards and the like.

I'm not sure the mobo off the top of my head. Its an old PII from my dad's office. I'm pretty sure ACPI is off, so I'll go through and check it out. When I installed it I kept having trouble so I kept trying to boot the installer with ACPI off, and finally got it done in text mode. I'll check what everyone else has mentioned and see what I can figure out. Blake

SuSE's kernels will not try to use ACPI on a machine of that vintage. Only turns on acpi if Bios date is latere than 2001 or some such. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

You could force it with "acpi=force". Wether or not this makes sense is a different question. Greetings from Bremen hartmut
