Konqueror and things that make it go wow!
Hi all, Noticing the mail that Pieter starting about movies and Konqueror eating up cpu, etc., I started thinking about some sites that cause it to do the same. I've got one for you folks to try and see how it behaves with you. The site not only causes Konq to eat up cpu cycles, but try printing a page with it on this site! I am sure there are other sites as well that do Konq this way. On this particular site, for me, Konq has had a love/hate relationship with it through the different versions. One version wouldn't print, the next would, but it's always eat up the cpu. See what you think. http://www.ecsusa.com/ Lee -- --- KMail v1.6 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

It takes a lot of cpu usage to get it started, but it drops down to about 25% after it's been fully loaded. I haven't tried printing yet, as I need to replace my cartridge first. :) Regards, Pieter Hulshoff

Yes, I get near 100% at loading and drop to about 35-43% after that, but neither Firefox or Mozilla behave that way. Printing with earlier versions of Konq on that site would lock it up or the print server. That seems to be happening now as well. Firefox/Mozilla will print, but it's pretty slow there too, as I believe the browsers have a difficult time determining what to print, the way the pages are built. Konq will get better I suppose or the people building sites will, not sure which will happen first though! ;o) Lee -- --- KMail v1.6 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

Easy to fix Lee, just un-install flash. It's only purpose is to push ads in your face anyway. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
