[opensuse] original install dvd vs. on-line repos
It seems that as of openSUSE 11.2, the on-line repos are always added, and that all software management (via Yast or zypper) will try to use them no matter. If you do an install on a system that is not connected to the internet, and select that the install should not check for updates, this still happens. Then, when you want to add software, or when you enable a system service and it wants to add needed software, the whole mess of trying to access the on-line repos and having it eventually time out and fail happens. I know I can disable them. But is it the case that they are blindly enabled during install no matter, and that I must actively disable them? -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O. Probably because most users need them, and new users do not know how to enable them, and would get errors when the applet tries to query for updates. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. Not convinced. As a minimum, I think it should be a question if you select not to do the update and text connectivity when doing the install. I agree that the internet is widespread. But it is not everywhere. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O.
