Fw: [opensuse] DSL should be loaded manually
I installed DSL that run well. But there is a small problem.
The DSL is unable start by itself from Linux booting. I must type "service network restart" or I should put the command into after.local.
Look into the log.

Can someone please explain why you are messing about with DSL modems instead of using and router and simply plugging up the ethernet side leave the configs on the router no messing about . Or is this a Paranoia thing that if i leave the router on someone may find a backdoor into my connection . I have some installations sites. Some of them are using Leased Channel that use router, and it is much more easier to setup. Just connect to Ethernet of Linux box.
However, in some area we use ADSL with cost effectiveness reason. It is more complex as it need authentication and other setting. ADSL modem can be act as NAT router but we want the Linux box connect to Internet transparently instead "hiding" behind ADSL modem.

I have not found a ADSL router yet that cannot be made to be Transparent to the net and i have used several of them including Zoom Smartcomm the best so far by far has been the Smatrcomm with it's ability to open just 1 ethernet port to direct unfiltered internet connection , The Modem /router option makes the connection painless unlike the hoops you are jumping thru with PPPD and the rest Cheers Pete -- Powered by openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 2 (x86_64) Kernel: 2.6.30-rc6-git3-4- default KDE: 4.2.86 (KDE 4.2.86 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090514)) "release 1" 09:22 up 0:05, 3 users, load average: 1.21, 0.91, 0.41

Hi Carlos, So far, running "service network restart" in after.local able to work. However, a better solution is preferred. Thanks Wong -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
