Did you use the usr-local-bin pkg, compile it or use a Mandrake pkg? Where did you get it? -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

I tried the usr-local-bin pkg, I had dependency issues in 8.2 and had to go back to a previous version to get it to work again. Roy
I managed to get Gaim working. I used the usr-local pkg (which I already had) and realized it was a dependency problem. I just made sure all of the packages I needed were installed. Thanks for all the help!!! I am almost ready to burn my XP disks. I am really surprised about how well Suse works. I have been using Mandrake and RedHat for a number of years and am a loyal fan of Mandrake. I put suse on my main computer duel booting with XP to see what it could do and I think I have become a major fan of this distro. It is almost ready for the takeover of the windows world! Now all we have to do is get the Major windows software people to put out a Linux version of their products. Walt On Sun, 2003-08-03 at 22:25, Roy D Mercer wrote:

All the dependencies are localed on the ulb page. Why not install them. They won't ..and the ulb package of Gaim is the best I've found. I'm confused as to why you'd revert back to the old version. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

Go to the sourceforge gaim site, and look in the bug tracker pages. I had a problem with 0.66 where it wouldn't even start, and found all I had to do was go into .gaimrc (IIRR), and set a couple of lines to not have any numbers in the brackets...and that did it. I can now use gaim 0.66 like normal, since the numbers repropogated to those places after the first use of it. Just look for any of the posts saying 'gaim won't start' or similar, and one of them in there should have the necessary instructions for you.
