I experienced the same situation today when I did a clean install of 7.0. Initially I ran sax from console. What fixed my problem, I ran X configuration again, that time from within yast. It brought sax2 up for some reason, but allowed me to select sax from a menu. I just confirmed all previous settings and after that startx began to work from an ordinary user account. HTH, Kastus

Fatal server error: xf86OpenConsole: Server must be running with root permissions You should be using Xwrapper to start the server or xdm. We strongly advise against making the server SUID root!
When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send the full server output, not just the last messages
