[opensuse] MinGW cross compiler on openSUSE
I have a questions about the MinGW cross compiler support in openSUSE. There are two repositories that have a cross compiler available: /repositories/CrossToolchain:/mingw/openSUSE_11.1/ and /repositories/windows:/mingw:/win32/openSUSE_11.1/ They both contain a cross compiler (compiler executes on openSUSE to make Windows executables). However, the one in the former is older. I think it is the one that is packaged with openSUSE. OTOH, the later seems to be much more active, providing not only the cross compiler tools, but also many libraries that have been compiled for Windows (see the noarch directory). In fact, this is a real useful thing for those of us who want to develop as much a possible on SUSE, but must provide Windows versions of things, even if under protest. I guess this is an unsung use of the Build Service. The later repository is also more actively maintained. So, is there any reason the former repository is the one delivered with openSUSE instead of the later. Or is it just that the later is too new? (This question brings up a question of old for which I may have missed the answer: How does one find out who maintains/manages a repository so they can be contacted with questions such as these?) -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O.
