harden_suse basically hardens the system by tightening permissions changing suid/sgid files, closing inetd, tightening sshd, configuring for strong passwords along with MD5 etc. I am using it on my firewalls and webservers yet they only serve those needs meaning I do not log in them as a user. You can still use harden_suse on your workstation as far I recall it allowed there set configurations server, firewall, workstation. You can always undo the changes as it does creates an undo script. -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
