Is there a way to get OSS to install on the 2.4.4-4GB dflt kernel? Or any of the 2.4.* kernels that are found in mantels dir? I can get it to install on kernel sources from kernel.org but not on the 2.4 kernel that ship with suse. Alsa doesn't work on my on board sound, plus Quake2 doesn't work either. Any tips would be appreciated. Did you edit your /etc/modules.conf? SuSE is set up for ALSA. In order to
run OSS you need to disable ALSA and enable OSS or they will conflict.
Just read the comments in the modules.conf file. It tells you exactly how
to do this.

It has worked for me on every kernel in mantel's directory. If you have dialup, make sure you are connected because some of them have to go to opensound.com for a patch during the install process.
