Has anyone here mangaged to play Tux Racer? ( http://tuxracer.sourceforge.net ) First I tried to install it from an RPM - it didn't work. (I have 3D acceleration, I can play other 3D games such as foobillard with no problems, so, this is not the problem) Then I tried to install it from the source, but the configure command says I don't have the tcl library, which I do have (on /usr/lib/tcl8.4 ) I try to use "./configure --with-tcl-libs=/usr/lib/tcl8.4" and it doesn't work either. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe I should try installing tcl again, this time not from an RPM? Dalton

You don't say what distro version you're running, but if you stick with installing things from the SUSE disks, you won't have any problems. Doing it all from YaSt, it told me what it needed to install. I'm using SuSE 9.1. I've used this RPM -> ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.1/suse/i586/tuxracer-0.61-1137.i586.rpm It installs with no dependency problems, but when I run it, it loads the program and then finishes. I can't even see the start screen. In oposition, when I run configure, it shows me all that's "missing". I could solve that last problem using tcl name instead of dir ( "./configure --with-tcl-lib-name=tcl8.4" ), now I need to set the parameters for the mesaGL and openGL libs (which I have too), but I still can't make the configure understand that the libs are there! Has someone ever compiled Tux Racer? Dalton On Thursday 08 July 2004 16:21, John Coldrick wrote:

Here it works. It starts in fullscreen mode with a resolution of 640x400. Maybe X does not have this resolution in its config file. You could go to your home directory and open ./tuxracer/option in an editor and change "set fullscreen true" to "set fullscreen false". Fabian
