Is there ever going to be an installable 7.1 eval? Or do we have to use the live-eval and hope it has all the drivers we need to test? Its really tough to test when you cant install packages and compile libs you need for your hardware. Chris K.

No. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.
Well, then I can no longer recommend SuSE as an MS alternative. One of the
selling points was the "try before you buy" over MS. Oh well, at least it
still works for me at home.

What is wrong with using LiveEval? -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.

a) You can still try it using the Live-Eval, even without needing to mess with your partitioning/hard drive at all b) You can use the ISOs of the Japanese version (just select english during the installation LenZ -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH mailto:grimmer@suse.de Schanzaeckerstr. 10 http://www.suse.de/~grimmer/ 90443 Nuernberg, Germany Think hard now. Sorry for writing this from Winblows, but I'm at work. I live in Italy; two days ago I bought a PC rewiew, PC Professionale, and I found there a SuSE 7.1 distribution on just one cd, not evaluation. I installed yesterday and it rocks! There is only KDE and console stuff, not Gnome, not pay section, not /opt, not X11 stuff... Yast2 is simply wonderful: it resizes HDs better than Mandrake and RH, lets mount all the partition on the mountpoint you want, finds modem, printer and souncard..... Just one question (or two ;): - is there in yast2 an option to configure console login instead graphical one? I've done this by yast1 because I've not been able to do by yast2 - is there an option in yast2 to configure wvdial? I've done this by yast1 because .. etc... So, please, keep yast1 alive until yast2 will be ready for everything.. Ciao from Italy Ferdinando
