[opensuse] getting updates with zypper from Packman
This has me stumped. I am notified of updates so I have a look to see what they are. I then update and zypper tells me there is nothing to do and that there is no "Packman" repo. Ideas? Here is the relevant output: @deimos ~] zypper lu -t package Reading installed packages... Nobody else is having this issue? I arrive this morning at the office and not only is the above scenario happening but when I run list updates I see packages from the VideoLan Repository that are ready to be updated. Again, I run "sudo zypper up -t package" and I get "Nothing to do." Does anyone know what is going on? How can I resolve this issue? Anyone? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I launched Yast | Software Management | Upgrades. Then selected the first package, gstreamer-0_10 and clicked Upgrade. Yast reports: ----------------------------- There are some conflicts on the transaction that must be solved manually. gstreamer-0_10-0.10.21-42.pm.2.x86_64 requires libgstreamer-0_10-0 >= 0.10.21, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: libgstreamer-0_10-0-0.10.21-42.pm.2.i586[http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/11.0/ ]libgstreamer-0_10-0-0.10.21-42.pm.2.x86_64[http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/11.0/ ] install libgstreamer-0_10-0-0.10.21-42.pm.2.x86_64 (with vendor change) * SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Nuernberg, Germany --> packman.links2linux.de * do not install gstreamer-0_10-0.10.21-42.pm.2.x86_64 * ignore some dependencies of gstreamer-0_10 ----------------------------- Odd. This is the package available using the skynet URL (which zypper is set to) http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/11.0/x86_64/gstreamer-0_10-0.10.21-42.... Has someone gotten a version dependency wrong or something? Looks like it wants libgstreamer-0_10-0-0.10.21-42 instead of gstreamer-0_10-0.10.21-42. --Shawn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not sure about your other problems, but "Packman Repository" is the *name* of the repo. You should use the number, alias or URI as indicated. (In your case the alias and URI are the same.) zypper -lu --repo 4 zypper -lu --repo http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/11.0/ -- Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi Don, Thanks for the reply. I tried that Friday; but here is the output again: @deimos ~] zypper lu --repo 4 Reading installed packages... Nothing to do. Again, only when running YaST do I see that there are some dependency issues that are not getting sorted out. These types of update issues have plagued openSUSE for as long as I can remember and this is the reason I have my son running Ubuntu. I really hope these issues get sorted out. I'm not going to cease using openSUSE but this can get frustrating at times. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

To Update gstreamer's , I think you gotta turn off your X Server first, # init 3 and use yast to update #yast Note: Everytime I added packman repo, it tell me that thr is an update for gstreamer but I can not update it, but if I turn off the X Server, it works. : ) Good luck DUDE. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
