Hi folks, every night online_update sends me the same messages, with packages installed/not installed. It does not change. This output is the standard out of the command "online_update". Why does it not change ? Is anything getting done? I'd like it a bit more verbose... Anyone have an idea ? Tia Dan
Hi there! Did anyone have the ISO images available for download? I am ashamed of this begging-like thing, but the package costs half of my salary... so I cannot afford it. Thanks in advance, Radu

I'm not convinced it's legal for anyone to make isos of 8.2 available for download. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure licensing of some of the packages wouldn't cover that. In a week or two the ftp version of 8.2 will be up, and as you obviously don't have bandwidth issues that's what I'd recommend waiting for. Failing that you could do the ftp install of 8.1 today. Hello, how are ? Probably you are right in relation to the licensing of some of the packages. No kidding?
Just think a little... just imagine a little that you have a "hi-jaked"
salary of about 150 US Dollars per month...
Would be, by any chance, SuSE 8.2 one of your priority, in this conditions?
Please note that SuSE 8.2 is 95 US Dollars here, in Romania
So, happy hi-jacking to you too!!!

Radu didn't understand the term "thread hijacking". There should be a link with explanations (in many different languages would be great), that can be sent to "thread hijackers" so they don't feel so much attacked.

So you do not read other postings on the list and you top-post and do not trim your quotes. You apparently know very little about SuSE, ISO images are traditionally not available for download. No reference was made to you spending *any* money, just a little time to understand the events mentioned. Beginning with the thread at: Message-Id: <200304210930.27003.suse_mailing_list@jimmo.com> Subject: [SLE] Please, Please start *new* threads and not simply reply to existing threads! is a explanation of *your* indiscretion. No apology necessary or expected. Huh? What he's saying is start a new thread so that the messages are threaded properly in certain email programs and on the web archives. It's not that hard. Just take the address down for the list, put it in your address book and then when you want to start a topic send a new message to that address. Preston

Perhaps he can't afford a new thread ? Sorry all, just having fun By the way, as I sort my mail by date of arrival I was wondering if this is a hijacked hijacked hijacked thread or is it a new thread ripe for hijacking? - -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com! -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+pX/SBwgxlylUsJARAsnVAJ9NFxCFn+SsrZ9e+Iq8DswoeltcJwCbBAiu UHpHQ5O+bXLIBQBpHPGUD+g= =Qh7W -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

By the way, as I sort my mail by date of arrival I was wondering if this is a hijacked hijacked hijacked thread or is it a new thread ripe for hijacking? Please, Insert my "adjusted" subject line here : ( so I don't have to retype it <G>) From very old movies , I suspect after then ran out of Romans, middle ages, Gauls , Teutonic Knights , ( or is that "Kniggitt" ?? Monty Python's Holy grail , one of the many J.Cleese characters, IIRC ) They began rewriting the history of the world to make a better story, because lets face it this thread has really lost it's weigh. and : Where is Chris anyway???? oh, wait this isn't the screen writers list , is it??? At least this version of the message has taken all who read it on a magical mystery tour.. and then ... Deperession sets in.. isn't it time for dinner somewhere, I know the Sun is well past the yard arm here .... to be continued until you people stop replying to this thread. And I have not yet begun all the silliness of which I am capable ... roll the end credits here and --- we're out people----- cue the next set of adverts , and who's buying ????

LOL. :) It's nice to see some humor now and then. BTW, I sort my mail by date also. I learned along time ago not to use threads. It irritated me when the were broken by mistakes like that. Figured I had better things to worry about. -Trey

There are an equal number of broken PCs outthere with clocks somewhere between 1900 and 2300, and the time of arrival heavily depends on the path from the sender to you, the time the mail sat in the queue at his/her and your ISP and on other mail gateways. It could very well be that a reply gets to you before the OP. Sorting by date is /not/ the solution. Theo -- Theo v. There is no solution. There is what works for you, which always comes accompanied by sandy gritty bits. It's called life. Best wishes Timothy Mason P.S. I want to thank James Mohr who took the time to patiently explain about threading and why thread-breaking could be annoying. Although this is the only list - of many - on which I have heard this complaint, I shall take care to keep James happy in future. On the other hand, I think some people on this list were so rude to the Rumanian gentleman that they should be cast into the outer darkness. If you wish to invoke etiquette, you should perhaps take care to be well-mannered yourself.

Yes I am aware, no solution is trouble free. That happens to me from time to time. I still prefer it, but thats just me. -Trey
