-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, Using KInternet, which as I understand it calls smpppd, which calls wvdial and pppd. I'd like it to launch apps when I connect, but ip-up.local has no effect. And there doesn't seem to be any other place in the command chain to put accessory commands. I need to have it restart snort (so snort will monitor ppp0) and start konverse. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8NQKHnQ18+PFcZJsRAsr2AJ9QUHoIBxVtqjAK7qRGJVbQfAjOOgCfcqcS TRtZUi4Dn5mvMc5K+/c7OFo= =MatJ -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
I had a similar problem with my setup, could not get ip-up.local to work. I gave up in the end when I discovered an alternative. Go to Yast2, Network configuration, Select modem, edit, next. In the box 'Execute after connect', select 'command line for your program'. The drawback to this is that the program is run everytime you dial in. In my case, with the help of Geoff here, we got a script to check for the program running to determine whether to load or not, or kill and reload. Hope this helps. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Oh no, there is no 'Execute After Connect' in Network/Basic nor Advanced. Running every time would be fine, as I need to start IM (Konverse) and restart Snort so it'll work on ppp0. Running Suse7.3 (installed from the ground up), KDE2.2.2, very latest YaST2. YOU finds nothing to update, so at the latest. Looks like that feature was removed! Does anyone know what the chain of events is on a dialup? Searched all the help info, and forums with no result. I think ip-up/down.local are not invoked because pppd is not invoked. Smpppd is instead. But no place in config nor rc.config files to set 'execute after'. What is rc.config after all? I thought it was setup for kernel functions, but when enabling things like junkbuster, it just doesn't start. Must use Snn file in rc5.d . On Friday, 4 January 2002 5:22, you wrote:
