[opensuse] VMWare disabling ctrl, shift and other keys on 11.0 host
I've recently upgraded to VMWare Workstation 6 (my older Workstation 5 wouldn't install on openSuSE 11.0). Something really bizzare is happening though: after using it for a bit, I find that while all keys on my keyboard are still working in the guest OS (inside VMWare), I have lost the use of all meta keys (alt, shift, ctrl, caps-lock, etc) on the host (openSuSE 11.01). I can type number and lowercase letters and that's it. Nothing I do brings these keys back to life on the host until I reboot - unplugging the keyboard and putting it back doesn't help. Is anyone else experiencing these problems? This happens with a lot of VMware products, and not just on osuse 11. Generally this occurs if you enter full screen mode at some point. You can restore most/all functionality if you issue the command setxkbmap. Hope that's a help. - James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
