[opensuse] Beta 3 x86_64 Online Update
Hi, Installed the x86_64 version of Beta3 yesterday afternoon. Looks good and seems to be running stable with no major errors. The one problem I am having though is with online update through YaST. Is there a repository I should be pointed at for this version for online updates to work as in YOU I only have 8 or so German sites none of which appear to have the directory structures which YOU is trying to access? Cheers Tim -- Tim Hempstead thempstead@gmail.com

YOU is trying to find the updates directory, but since the product has not been released yet and no updates are produces, you won't find those dirs yet. Andreas openSUSE is SUPER: To help in the SUSE Performance Enhanced Release project visit http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/SUPER

Actually the MS TrueType fonts downloader and the NVIDIA Downloader scripts should be present ... and were on my tests. Ciao, Marcus

Hi Markus I am sure you did the test, but why do I get this when I try to run YOU on whatever server I have retrieved via http://www.suse.de/cgi-bin/suseservers.cgi? error HTTP return code: 404 (URL: http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/suse/Suse/x86_64/update/10.0/patches/directory.3) or error HTTP return code: 404 (URL: http://ftp.hosteurope.de/mirror/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/x86_64/update/10.0/pat...) error HTTP return code: 404 (URL: http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/suse/Suse/x86_64/update/10.0/patches/directory.3)
or
error HTTP return code: 404 (URL: http://ftp.hosteurope.de/mirror/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/x86_64/update/10.0/pat...)
This seems to be an AMD64 problem. I will ask to get it fixed. Ciao, Marcus

Well actually it is just a missing link in the update directory on ftp: $ l /pub/suse/x86_64/update/ total 0 drwxr-sr-x 5 extsync sync 184 2005-04-18 16:05 ./ drwxr-sr-x 8 extsync sync 280 2005-06-29 14:00 ../ drwxr-sr-x 6 extsync sync 152 2003-11-24 14:16 9.0/ drwxr-sr-x 6 extsync sync 152 2004-03-26 16:21 9.1/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 extsync sync 21 2005-05-12 22:58 9.2 -> ../../i386/update/9.2/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 extsync sync 21 2005-05-12 22:58 9.3 -> ../../i386/update/9.3/ drwxr-sr-x 2 extsync sync 72 2004-01-26 10:30 SuSE-Linux-PatchCD/ $ You can see that the link for 10.0 is missing. You can see that the link for 10.0 is missing.
No, the link is not missing. A config file on the CD is incorrect, which does not point to i386. This will be fixed in Beta4. 9.2, 9.3 and 10.0 are biarch products, sharing the same YOU tree. Ciao, Marcus

Sure, but the 5 x86_64 CDs for the _beta_ were not built as a biarch distribution and that's why they include the x86_64 in the path. If you install from the inst-source path on the ftp you are fine.
