Kaffeine and Konqueror
Hi. How do I associate Kaffeine with Konqueror in SuSE 9.1 ? Erik Jakobsen
What, exactly, are you trying to accomplish? Kaffeine should already be associated with various file types, if you did a default install. On Wednesday 20 October 2004 2:17 pm, Erik Jakobsen wrote:

Sorry to all that replied. I forgot to mention, that it is for streaming netradio from http://dr.dk/netradio. It has worked fine before, but due to a reason I don't know, its a Totem that is running now, but I want Kaffeine to take care of netradio_streaming. So this is what I forgot to mention :-( Erik Jakobsen

I am assuming that you wish to use Kaffeine when certain filetypes are selected in konq. To make the proper file associations open konq, then go to settings --> Configure Konqueror --> File Associations. You will see a list of "Known Types". Select the category (e.g. video) and then the file type. You will then see the applications that are associated to that filetype in the "Application Preference Order" to the right of the window. If Kaffeine is in the list make sure it is moved to the top. If it is not "Add" it and then make sure it is on the top of the list. HTH, Darrell

Hi Darrel. In another message, I apollogized for not mention what I wanted kaffeine for. Its for using konqueror with netradio. I have the setup of kaffeine being shown at www.urbakken.dk/kaffeine.png. Is that right ?. Anyway it doesn't start up kaffeine if I choose http://dr.dk/netradio, and choose a station there. As far as I can tell your set up looks fine. However, I am not sure how that is related to netradio. I would assume that there is another file type that is associated with netradio in either audio or video subsections. Unfortunately, I can be of no help in this category. Sorry, Darrell

Hi Erik, I can't read the instructions on the dr.dk/netradio website because I don't speak the language. However, I can interpret enough to see that they are streaming in Windows Media Player format. The instructions seem to be saying you need Mplayer, mplayerplug-in and related codecs to listen to their programming under Linux. This isn't too hard. Check out http://packman.links2linux.com -- under "Multimedia" -- for the rpms. regards, - Carl
