on Tue, 6 Sounds like it may be time for the ol' delete /tmp routine. Try that yet?
Stan
Stan, can you be more specific? What should I try? I'm kind of new at this so I need specific instructions. Thx. Gil -- j
On my machine I can right click the desktop, Configure Desktop, Behavior and General tab, check/uncheck the Show tooltips option and it works. I'll then left click the desktop to make sure its selected and then mouse over the CD icon and a tooltip either appears or doesn't. My suggestions to delete /tmp is to clear out all the flags, lock files, temp files, etc that accumulate over time. Look for your userid in a directory name and delete those, logout/login, and then see what happens. Stan

This works on my machine too but I am running KDE 3.2.1 and I wasn't sure whether 9.0 vanilla had that option. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. Might i ask the version of KDE you're using? My Configure Desktop, Behavior has no tabs or a tooltip checkbox. KDE 3.1.4 Jim

KDE 3.1.4

SUSE 9.0 Pro with KDE 3.2.1 currently. The various options for various settings in KDE seem to get relocated very often these days. I know there was a similar setting in 3.1.4 somewhere but I no longer have that version available to check it out. Stan
