[SLE] upgrade frustrations
I had posted this earlier, w/ limited response, so here goes again. Is anyone else having problems upgrading/updating SuSE 6.3? I have been trying for some time now, and any time I connect to one of the mirrors that has the updates for 6.3, I can connect, login, and 'cd' just fine. What I cannot do is 'ls', 'dir', or 'get'. In otherwords, nothing really useful. I get a warning 'Illegal Port Command' and nothing happens. Grrrr!!!! Someone had earlier commented it was somehow due to how the mirrors were laid out. If so, am I or am I not the only one to have this problem? Is there a way around it, short of manually downloading each and every file individually via the Web, which I pretty much refuse to do. I have emailed the ftpadmin@suse.com several times w/ no response, and I attempted to contact install support at SuSE, but since I registered my boxed version via the web and subsequently lost my registration code, they wouldn't help me either. I have been using linux for a little while now, so while I am not a guru by any means, I am not exactly a rank newbie. I have tried ftp, ncftp, gftp, wget, yast w/ the ftp update, etc. and so on. Nothing could list or download files from any up-to-date suse mirror, while it works just fine from any _not_ up-to-date mirror, or any other ftp site. For crying out loud, I downloaded packages for my OpenBSD box using ncftp! WTF?!? This is driving me up a wall!! Can someone help me out with this? Lenz? Any ideas? Anyone? The only place I've seen with upgrades to 6.3 is ftp.suse.com. What sites have you had problems with?
