Hi,
I have no experience with virtualbox, hower I am running vmware
workstation on openSuSE 11.4 kernel 3.0.7. I could not compile the
modules without applying a patch and running from shell the command:
sudo vmware-modconfig --install-all.

Which VmWare ? 8, or 7.1.5? There has been a small bugfix release on Vmware 7.1.5, probably the last it will get, and the only reason this was done is Vmware knows that Vmware 8 is still shot full of bugs. But I never had any problem running 7.1.5 on OS 11.4 on 2.6.37 kernel. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
I had vmware 7.1.4 on openSuSE 11.4 kernel 3.0.7. I just updated to
kernel 3.1.0 and to vmware 8.0: same problems and same solution.
VMware is working perfectly, but I could install the modules only
after applying a patch.

Francesco

Just to clarify. Are you running VirtualBox 4.0.12_OSE r72916 or minor Host on openSUSE 11.4 for oS_12.1 Guest? or are you running Virtual Box from openSUSE 12.1 host for oS_12.1 Guest? Comment: I was trying to run openSUSE 12.1 Guest from openSUSE 11.4 with VirtualBox 4.1.0 r73009 with no results for oS_12.1(hangs on boot) despite VBox is able to run other OS. So new features on oS_12.1 seems needing a Vbox upgrade. Now, I am running VBox 4.0.12_OSE r72916 with good outcomes. Hope this can give you some leads.
