Re: [SLE] C-Media (sound card) configuration
Hello, Though it isn't the easiest solution, you might want to compile the alsa sound drivers yourself. For me this always proved to be the best solution. So go to http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/ template.php?company=C-Media&card=CMI8738&chip=CMI8738&module=cmipci where you kan find all the information you need to install the driver. Good luck! Op zondag 26 oktober 2003 23:17, schreef Shinichi:
Hello all,
My system (Suse 8.1 Personal Edition)does not allow me to configure sound driver (C-Media 8738) that is embedded in ASUS A7V333 motherboard.
Is there anybody who knows how to configure the sound?
Any help is appreciated.

Those docs are really outdated. If SuSE's ALSA does not include the cmipci driver, compile the tarballs is this order (make sure checkinstall is installed): (1) The drivers: ./configure --with-cards=cmipci --with-sequencer=yes make maki install (2) ALSA-libs ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc make make install checkinstall (3) ALSA OSS-compat lib ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc make make install checkinstall (4) ALSA Utils ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc make make install checkinstall You don't need ALSA-tools. Now run the alsaconf script from the utils subdirectory of the driver source. Charles -- "...[Linux's] capacity to talk via any medium except smoke signals."
