Promise Ultra 66 support in SuSE 7.0 ?
Can anyone tell me if SuSE 7.0 supports the Promise Ultra 66 controller ? I'm running a SuSE default 2.2.19 update. There is actually a newer 2.2.19 kernel update in the 7.0 updates directory on the ftp site than the one I'm currently using. k_deflt_22-2.2.19-162.i386.rpm Does this one have the Promise controller included as standard ? Basically I need to add a 40GB and 30Gb drive to my old P166 system which already has all its on-board IDE channels full and I have a spare Promise card available to add these new drives to the system. I'm also hoping that I will get better performance from the Promise card than the on-board controller which is incredibly slow. I could upgrade to SuSE 7.2 if this has better Promise support but as my system is stable and properly configured using 7.0 I'd like to keep it that way if possible. Any suggestions much appreciated ? Cheers, Sean.
