Only one of the big 3D ganes was better (i cannot remember which one) .. that will only change when the game makers tune into the P4' possiblities. Also, the P4 only works with RDRAM, big big bucks. Apparently there will be a model late next year that uses "ordinary" ram. [Andrew Smith] Indeed; the big problem with Intel, especially P4, is the huge price tag. Working on the basis of price per speed, it's impossible to beat the Duron - e.g. £40 for a 600MHz! What spec. machine do you have in short ? I am going to buy a new one soon, am always looking for tips (though I wont be buying a 1 Ghz ..). The problem is not finding out whether linux works on a piece of hardwar, but whether all the hardware works together... [Andrew Smith] I have a 1GHz machine, 256MB RAM, GeForce GTS2, 40.9GB hdd. I have had no problems apart from with the graphics card, although nVidia have released X86Free drivers for all GeForce cards. Admitidly I have been using mostly windows on my new pc and havnt had time to test the drivers, although they should work with no probs. If you want I'll give you a full list of all the components...
