Re: [Xen-users] Re: [opensuse] Losing NFS mounts on 11.1

Did you try to access /home/user/shares/storage or /home/user/shares/mythtv ?, they won't be mounted until you try to access them (try ls $dir).... They'll be unmounted 60 seconds after the last process releases any open file.
Yes, I get the error when I try access them.

Why did ended in the Xen maillist?.... Well make sure you have the full path to the auto.shares in the auto.master. About the auto.shares, it should start with the token (storage, mythtv), no spaces. Use TAB to separate the columns and start the options with "-", just like the example in auto.misc. I am on both lists , but not sure how that happened. I do use procmail with a recipe for opensuse and one for xen, but I've never seen it have any affect like that. Hmm... Post your current/fixed configuration (auto.master and auto.shares), also copy the output or take a screenshot of the operation trying to access the mountpoint and the error it gives, also any message from /var/log/messages. -- Ciro Iriarte http://cyruspy.wordpress.com -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Here it is. I changed the mount directory just to make sure nothing was funky with the directory I was trying to use before. # cat auto.master # # Sample auto.master file # This is an automounter map and it has the following format # key [ -mount-options-separated-by-comma ] location # For details of the format look at autofs(5). # #/misc /etc/auto.misc # # NOTE: mounts done from a hosts map will be mounted with the # "nosuid" and "nodev" options unless the "suid" and "dev" # options are explicitly given. # #/net -hosts # # Include central master map if it can be found using # nsswitch sources. # # Note that if there are entries for /net or /misc (as # above) in the included master map any keys that are the # same will not be seen as the first read key seen takes # precedence. # #+auto.master /tmpmnt /etc/auto.shares # cat auto.shares storage -tcp,rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768 192.168.0.22:/storage mythtv -tcp,rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768 192.168.0.16:/mythtv # service autofs start Starting automount done # ls /tmpmnt/ mythtv storage # ls /tmpmnt/mythtv ls: cannot open directory /tmpmnt/mythtv: No such file or directory When I start autofs I can see the two mount points get created under /tmpmnt when I look at it using xfe. if I click on one of them it acts like it's doing something, then I get nothing mounted. Can you actually mount these directories manually? What gives: mkdir -p /tmp/22 /tmp/16 mount -t nfs -o tcp,rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768 192.168.0.16:/mythtv /tmp/16 mount -t nfs -o tcp,rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768 192.168.0.22:/storage /tmp/22 ??? Can you ping 192.168.0.16 and/or 192.168.0.22 ? Is there a firewall active on either of those hosts? What happens if you shut it down?
Thanks, James

Yes, they mount fine. James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

# #+auto.master
/tmpmnt /etc/auto.shares
# cat auto.shares storage -tcp,rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768 192.168.0.22:/storage mythtv -tcp,rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768 192.168.0.16:/mythtv
If you're using TABs to separate each column, the configuration should be fine storage <TAB> -tcp,rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768 <TAB> 192.168.0.22:/storage
# service autofs start Starting automount done
I assume the service was down.
# ls /tmpmnt/ mythtv storage
From what I remember, there shouldn't be any file/directory in /tmpmnt until you try to access the tokens defined in auto.shares, maybe that changed recently.
# ls /tmpmnt/mythtv ls: cannot open directory /tmpmnt/mythtv: No such file or directory
When I start autofs I can see the two mount points get created under /tmpmnt when I look at it using xfe. if I click on one of them it acts like it's doing something, then I get nothing mounted.
I get nothing in /var/log/messages.
Set DEFAULT_LOGGING="debug" in /etc/sysconfig/autofs and restart the service.
Thanks, James
