Someone on Slashdot raised something rather interesting, and just wondered about it: Redhat does have an automatic detection script for hardware, any possibility of having something like this in SuSE? Lets say I change my graphics card, would it be possible for sax2 to appear? Also, would it be possible to select this automatic feature to on or off if it is ever incorporated. Matt

Yes, that would be nice to have. Let's see, what we can do... Come on , Lenz. Out with it. Spill the beans on autodetection/ config. I smell some nice juicy feast coming this way. You're amongst friend here, hehehehehe...... We promise not to tell the rest of the world. Oh ! Where is Pennington, to help me extract more info from you ? That's a good question. I just installed a dvd and cd r/w drive last night, and am trying to get the devices set up. For example, setting /dvd to point to the correct device and that sort of thing. I was wondering if there was a script to do this or not. -ronc On Wednesday 13 February 2002 08:26 am, Matthew Johnson wrote:

Sounds like Windows. Wizards -I hate them. We don't want to emulate Redmond. Brian Marr

Kudzu is severely brain-damaged. What's really fun is when you have a headless server and it won't come up because it's asking questions on the console. Then you have to find a KVM and hook it up before your server will actually run. I like autodetection, but only at my request. Maybe an email to root upon detection would be a better idea. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8arlP+FOexA3koIgRAiKNAKCbuiwbpyMwDgxzL5+GCK3axxSGyQCgtOYs YCVVzLVRp/7QNwPTLZP+s78= =pTS4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
